Electric Eel Shock in Newcastle upon Tyne

Electric Eel Shock are a Japanese rock trio formed in Tokyo in 1994. They play garage rock, hard rock and punk, and are known for albums including Go America, Beat Me and Transworld Ultra Rock, as well as songs such as “Bastard” and “Rock & Roll Can Rescue the World.” In 1999, Electric Eel Shock left Japan to tour the United States. They played clubs across the country, then toured Europe and appeared at SXSW, Roskilde Festival and Bonnaroo. The group performs as a three-piece: Akihito Morimoto sings and plays guitar, Kazuto Maekawa plays bass, and Tomoharu “Gian” Ito plays drums. Using four drumsticks at once is a stage signature of Tomoharu “Gian” Ito.
