Ensemble Intercontemporain Tickets & 2026–2027 Tour Dates

Ensemble Intercontemporain is a French chamber ensemble founded in 1976 by composer and conductor Pierre Boulez. Created as a permanent group of soloists for new music, it became closely associated with IRCAM and is known for commissioning, premiering and recording works by living composers.

At the Donaueschinger Musiktage in 1981, the ensemble gave the first performance of Boulez’s Répons under the composer’s direction; later versions expanded a score written for instrumental soloists, ensemble and live electronics. Its concert base moved to the Cité de la musique in 1995, and the group later became resident at the Philharmonie de Paris.
