Eric Clapton is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter born in Ripley, Surrey, in 1945. He plays blues and rock, and was a member of the Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos. With Derek and the Dominos he recorded “Layla”; his solo catalogue includes “Wonderful Tonight,” “Tears in Heaven,” 461 Ocean Boulevard and Slowhand. In 1992, he recorded a concert at Bray Studios for MTV Unplugged, including a reworked version of “Layla.” He organized the first Crossroads Guitar Festival at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in 2004, and the following year reunited with Cream for concerts at Madison Square Garden. He has played long concert runs at London’s Royal Albert Hall, while repeated visits to Tokyo have brought him back to Nippon Budokan.

Jimmie Vaughan is an American guitarist and singer, born in Dallas in 1951, whose music draws on Texas blues, rhythm and blues and rock and roll. He co-founded the Fabulous Thunderbirds in Austin and played on the band’s best-known recording, “Tuff Enuff.” His work also includes Family Style, recorded with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the solo album Strange Pleasure. In 1990, Jimmie Vaughan joined Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray for the closing performance at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. He later appeared at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, performing at the Cotton Bowl in 2004 and at Toyota Park in 2010.
