About Evelyn "Champagne" King
Evelyn “Champagne” King is an American R&B, disco and soul singer born in the Bronx in 1960. Discovered as a teenager while cleaning the Philadelphia International Records offices, she later signed with RCA. Her 1977 debut album, Smooth Talk, featured “Shame”; her subsequent recordings included “I’m in Love” and the Kashif-produced “Love Come Down.”
King performed at Scotland’s Soulful Weekender in 2011 and appeared at London’s Brixton Disco Festival in 2019. In 2023, she performed at the opening of Drumsheds.
