About Fear
Fear is an American punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1977 and led by singer and guitarist Lee Ving. The band is known for the album The Record and songs including “I Love Livin’ in the City,” “Let’s Have a War” and “New York’s Alright If You Like Saxophones.”
Fear’s early club performances were captured in Penelope Spheeris’s documentary The Decline of Western Civilization. Later, at John Belushi’s urging, the band appeared on the 1981 Halloween episode of Saturday Night Live; the broadcast featured slam dancers crowding the stage, profanity on air and damaged equipment in Studio 8H.
