Flotsam & Jetsam are an American thrash metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1981. Fast riffing, melodic vocals and albums including Doomsday for the Deceiver and No Place for Disgrace established their sound; early bassist Jason Newsted later joined Metallica. In 1987, the band toured Europe with Megadeth and Armored Saint. Their performance at the 2008 Metalmania festival in Katowice was released as the concert album and video Once in a Deathtime. In 2019, they returned to European stages on the Killfest tour with Overkill and Destruction.
