Frankie Avalon in West Springfield

Frankie Avalon is an American pop singer and actor, born in Philadelphia in 1940. A teenage star of the late 1950s, he is known for the singles “Venus” and “Why,” and later appeared with Annette Funicello in the Beach Party film series. In 1985, Frankie Avalon joined fellow Philadelphia teen idols Fabian and Bobby Rydell in The Golden Boys. The touring production brought their individual hits and ensemble numbers to theatres and casinos for decades, keeping Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell together onstage long after their first chart successes.
