Giora Feidman in Gunzenhausen

Giora Feidman is an Argentine-born Israeli clarinetist, born in Buenos Aires in 1936, whose work centers on klezmer and Jewish musical traditions. His repertoire also draws on tango and jazz, while recordings including The Singing Clarinet and Klezmer for Peace established the singing, vocal quality of his clarinet style. In 1957, Feidman joined the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and remained with the ensemble for 18 years before concentrating on solo concert work. His European stage career included Peter Zadek’s 1984 Berlin production of Joshua Sobol’s Ghetto, in which his clarinet became part of the drama itself.
