About Grand Magus
Grand Magus are a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Stockholm in 1996. Their music draws on traditional metal and doom, built around heavy riffs and lyrics steeped in mythology and battle imagery. Their best-known recordings include the albums Iron Will, Hammer of the North and The Hunt, as well as the songs “Hammer of the North” and “Like the Oar Strikes the Water.”
The band played Roadburn Festival in Tilburg in 2006, then brought its catalogue to larger European metal gatherings including Wacken Open Air and Bloodstock Open Air. Those appearances established a live history spanning specialist indoor festivals and major open-air stages.
Grand Magus perform as a three-piece built around guitar, bass and drums. Lead vocals and guitar are handled by founding member JB Christoffersson.
