About Guayacán Orquesta
Guayacán Orquesta is a Colombian salsa orchestra founded in Bogotá in 1986 by Chocó-born trombonist, arranger and composer Alexis Lozano. The group became known for dance-oriented and romantic salsa through songs including “Oiga, mire, vea,” “Invierno en primavera,” “Te amo, te extraño” and “Cada día que pasa.”
Guayacán Orquesta has performed repeatedly during the Feria de Cali; the lyrics of “Oiga, mire, vea” celebrate the fair and landmarks around the city. Its established concert format is a full salsa orchestra built around vocalists, brass, piano, bass and Afro-Caribbean percussion, reflecting the arrangements associated with Alexis Lozano.
