About Head East
Head East is an American rock band formed in east-central Illinois in 1969. Its hard rock sound is built around guitars, keyboards and vocal harmonies, and the band is best known for “Never Been Any Reason” and the album Flat as a Pancake. Other staples include “Love Me Tonight” and its recording of “Since You Been Gone.”
The 1979 double album Head East Live! documented the group after several years of touring behind its A&M releases. Following the end of its original run in the early 1980s, keyboardist Roger Boyd assembled later lineups and took the band back on the road. Head East has since played theatres, casinos, fairs and classic-rock festivals, including Rocklahoma.
