About Hidden Orchestra
Hidden Orchestra is a British instrumental project formed by composer and producer Joe Acheson in Edinburgh in 2009. Its music combines electronic production, jazz rhythms, strings, piano and field recordings; the albums Night Walks, Archipelago and Dawn Chorus established the project’s sound.
Hidden Orchestra toured the material from Night Walks and Archipelago through clubs, theatres and festivals. A 2018 performance at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts was later documented on the concert album Live at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts.
The stage ensemble has featured Acheson on bass and electronics alongside two drummers, piano and violin. Festival appearances included Glastonbury and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
