Hurray For The Riff Raff is an American folk and roots-rock project founded in New Orleans by Bronx-born songwriter Alynda Segarra. Its early records drew on traditional folk, country and blues. Small Town Heroes introduced songs including “The Body Electric” and “Blue Ridge Mountain,” while the concept album The Navigator featured “Rican Beach” and “Pa’lante.” Life on Earth and The Past Is Still Alive later expanded that catalogue. Hurray For The Riff Raff performed at Newport Folk Festival in 2014, the release year of Small Town Heroes. Touring around The Navigator then reached theatres and festivals in the United States and Europe, including Glastonbury. On later runs for Life on Earth and The Past Is Still Alive, Alynda Segarra performed with a full band in clubs and theatres.
