Sunny War in Evanston

Sunny War is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music draws on folk, blues, punk and country. She first recorded as part of the Los Angeles punk duo Anus Kings, then established a solo catalogue that includes Shell of a Girl, Simple Syrup and Anarchist Gospel, the album featuring “No Reason” and “Swear to Gawd.” Sunny War performed at Newport Folk Festival before presenting songs from Anarchist Gospel in a 2023 NPR Tiny Desk Concert. She later opened selected North American theatre dates for Mitski.
