Jason Moran in Ludwigshafen am Rhein

Jason Moran is an American jazz pianist and composer, born in Houston in 1975. His music draws on post-bop, blues and experimental approaches to the piano; key recordings include Soundtrack to Human Motion, Black Stars and Ten, and he composed the score for the film Selma. The live album The Bandwagon documented his trio with bassist Tarus Mateen and drummer Nasheet Waits at New York’s Village Vanguard. He later joined Charles Lloyd’s New Quartet, whose concert work was captured on Rabo de Nube, recorded in Basel.
