Jean-Michel Blais in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield

Jean-Michel Blais is a Canadian pianist and composer born in Nicolet, Quebec, in 1984. His debut album, Il, introduced his melodic contemporary-classical piano writing, while Dans ma main incorporated electronics and aubades was composed for chamber orchestra. He also wrote the score for Xavier Dolan’s film Matthias & Maxime. After releasing Il, he toured its solo-piano repertoire through Europe and North America, then brought Dans ma main to concert halls and festivals. In 2019, he documented that phase of his live work in a solo Tiny Desk Concert at NPR Music’s office in Washington, D.C.
