Jeffrey Lewis in Frankfurt am Main

Jeffrey Lewis is an American singer-songwriter and comic-book artist from New York City, born in 1975. He plays anti-folk and lo-fi folk punk, pairing narrative songs with hand-drawn comics. His best-known work includes “Back When I Was 4,” “Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror,” the album The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane and Other Favorites and his reinterpretations of Crass on 12 Crass Songs. Jeffrey Lewis began playing New York’s anti-folk circuit at the SideWalk Cafe before touring outside the United States. He later performed with groups billed as Jeffrey Lewis & the Junkyard and Jeffrey Lewis & Los Bolts, while retaining the projected, hand-drawn pieces he calls low-budget films. His live history also includes performances at Glastonbury Festival and Green Man Festival.
