Artist
Joelma is a Brazilian singer and dancer from Almeirim, Pará, best known as the longtime lead vocalist of Banda Calypso, which she co-founded in Belém in 1999. Her music draws on calypso, brega pop and forró, and her best-known songs include “A Lua Me Traiu,” “Dançando Calypso,” “Pra Te Esquecer” and the solo release “Voando pro Pará.” Banda Calypso documented its concerts on releases including Ao Vivo em São Paulo and Ao Vivo em Angola. After the group ended in 2015, Joelma launched her solo stage career through the Avante Tour and later returned to that repertoire on the Isso É Calypso Tour.
