John Carroll Kirby in Brooklyn

John Carroll Kirby is an American pianist, composer and producer based in Los Angeles. His instrumental music draws on jazz, ambient and new-age traditions, while his keyboard and production credits include Solange’s albums A Seat at the Table and When I Get Home. His solo catalogue includes My Garden, Septet, Dance Ancestral and Blowout. John Carroll Kirby toured as a keyboardist and musical director for Solange before presenting his own instrumental work in concert. NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert later documented him leading a small ensemble from the keyboards, bringing the compositions of My Garden into a live setting.
