About John Hiatt & The Goners
John Hiatt & The Goners is an American roots-rock group built around singer-songwriter John Hiatt and a Louisiana rhythm section featuring slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. The musicians recorded Slow Turning, whose best-known songs include “Drive South,” “Tennessee Plates” and the title track, and later reunited for The Tiki Bar Is Open.
In 2018, John Hiatt & The Goners reunited for the Slow Turning 30th Anniversary Tour. The concerts included a complete performance of the album and restored its original slide-guitar partnership between John Hiatt and Sonny Landreth.
