About John Williams
John Williams is an American composer and conductor, born in New York in 1932. He is known for the music of Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and the first three Harry Potter films.
From 1980 to 1993, he served as principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, leading the ensemble at Symphony Hall. He also made recurring appearances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, and in 2020 he conducted the Vienna Philharmonic at the Musikverein.
His concert appearances place him at the podium before a symphony orchestra, conducting themes and suites from his film scores alongside works written for the concert hall.
The United States was the center of his concert work; he also conducted programs in Germany and Japan.
