Joo Kraus & Fola Dada in Ettlingen

Joo Kraus is a German trumpeter and composer, born in 1966, who plays jazz, funk and electronically shaped grooves. He formed Tab Two with bassist Hellmut Hattler; the duo’s jazz-and-hip-hop approach became a central part of his work. His solo catalogue includes the albums Public Jazz Lounge, The Ride and Sueño. During the 1990s, Tab Two toured internationally, performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and opened for Tina Turner on the Wildest Dreams Tour. Joo Kraus subsequently led his own ensembles before reuniting with Hellmut Hattler for a 2011 Tab Two concert at Ulmer Zelt.

Fola Dada is a German jazz and soul singer born in Stuttgart in 1977. She is known for her solo album Earth, her long association with bassist Hellmut Hattler’s band Hattler, and her work with the SWR Big Band. Since 2000, she has performed with Hattler in clubs and at festivals, extending a collaboration also documented across the group’s recordings. Her concert work also includes featured appearances singing jazz, soul and pop repertoire with the SWR Big Band.
