Jorge Aragão in Santo André

Jorge Aragão is a Brazilian samba singer, songwriter and cavaquinho player, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1949. He was a founding member of Fundo de Quintal before beginning a solo career, and his repertoire includes “Coisinha do Pai,” “Eu e Você Sempre” and “Identidade.” His compositions have also been recorded by major samba singers, notably Beth Carvalho. Jorge Aragão Ao Vivo documented his repertoire in concert and was followed by Jorge Aragão Ao Vivo 2. The later Ao Vivo Convida presented the same samba-band format as a guest-led performance. Across these live recordings, he sings and plays cavaquinho in arrangements of songs including “Malandro” and “Vou Festejar.”
