José María Napoleón is a Mexican singer-songwriter, born in Aguascalientes in 1948, whose work centers on romantic Latin pop and narrative ballads. Known as “El Poeta de la Canción,” he wrote and recorded songs including “Vive,” “Pajarillo,” “Hombre,” “Celos” and “Ella se llamaba Martha.” The Hasta Siempre farewell tour has framed his later concert work as a survey of songs from across his career. José María Napoleón has presented the show at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional, performing his repertoire with a live band at a venue closely associated with his concert history.
Mocedades is a Spanish vocal group formed in Bilbao in 1967, initially under the name Voces y Guitarras. Its folk-pop and canción melódica repertoire is best known for “Eres Tú,” which placed second at the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest, as well as “Tómame o déjame” and “Amor de hombre.” At Eurovision in Luxembourg, Mocedades presented “Eres Tú” through the close ensemble harmonies that became central to its concerts. The group later took that vocal format to Chile for the Viña del Mar International Song Festival.
