Jozef Van Wissem in Copenhagen

Jozef Van Wissem is a Dutch composer and lutenist, born in Maastricht in 1962. He writes spare, repetitive music for baroque lute, often using mirrored structures, and is known for his recordings with filmmaker and guitarist Jim Jarmusch. Their collaborations include Concerning the Entrance into Eternity and The Mystery of Heaven, while Van Wissem also composed music for Jarmusch’s film Only Lovers Left Alive. Jozef Van Wissem has presented his work in solo lute recitals and in concert with Jarmusch. Their performances brought the interplay of lute and electric guitar from the studio to international stages, including Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
