Junko Yagami in Tokyo

Junko Yagami is a Japanese singer-songwriter, born in Nagoya in 1958, whose pop writing draws on kayōkyoku, funk and the sound later associated with city pop. She is best known for “Mizuiro no Ame,” “Purple Town: You Oughta Know by Now” and “Mr. Blue: Watashi no Chikyu.” The Yaga Matsuri concert series began in 2017 and gave her a recurring showcase for songs from across her catalogue in Tokyo. Her later live work has also included theatre tours and performances at Billboard Live Osaka and Billboard Live Yokohama.
