Kings Return & Joyce DiDonato in Hamburg

Joyce DiDonato is an American mezzo-soprano born in Prairie Village, Kansas, in 1969. She is known for her interpretations of Handel, Rossini and Mozart, and for bel canto roles including Angelina in La Cenerentola. Her recordings include Diva, Divo and Drama Queens. At the Royal Opera House in 2009, she continued a run of The Barber of Seville in a wheelchair after breaking her leg during the opening performance. In 2016 she began touring In War & Peace: Harmony Through Music, a staged sequence of Baroque arias performed with Il Pomo d’Oro. The partnership produced EDEN in 2022, a concert program that brought local children’s choirs into the finale for “Seeds of Hope.” Her festival appearances have included opera at the Salzburg Festival and orchestral concerts at the BBC Proms.
