Kohei Fukuda in Fukushima Prefecture

Kohei Fukuda is a Japanese enka singer from Iwate Prefecture whose background in min’yō folk singing shapes his direct, traditional vocal style. His recording debut, “Nanbu Semi Shigure,” became his signature song, and “Tōge Goe” is another central title in his repertoire. In 2013, he made his first appearance on NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen, performing “Nanbu Semi Shigure.” He later returned to the year-end broadcast while taking his enka and min’yō programme on concert tours around Japan; the Kōhaku performances were staged at NHK Hall in Tokyo.
