La Barranca is a Mexican rock band formed in 1994 by guitarist and singer José Manuel Aguilera and bassist Federico Fong. Its music draws on alternative, progressive and psychedelic rock, heard on albums including El fuego de la noche, Tempestad and Rueda de los tiempos. “El alacrán,” “Día negro” and “La expedición” are among the songs associated with the group. La Barranca has performed at multiple editions of Vive Latino, bringing its guitar-led catalogue to the festival stage. The band has also presented its own concerts in Mexico City theatres, including Teatro Metropólitan.
