La Santa Cecilia in Orinda

La Santa Cecilia is a Mexican American band formed in Los Angeles in 2007. Its music draws on cumbia, bolero, folk and rock, led by songs including “El Hielo” and albums such as Treinta Días, Buenaventura and Amar y Vivir. Treinta Días won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album. La Santa Cecilia developed its audience through club and community performances before reaching major concert halls. The band has performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, bringing the same repertoire into orchestral and large outdoor settings. The group performs as a full band, using accordion, guitar, bass, drums and percussion around the voice of La Marisoul.
