Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean in Seattle

Lauryn Hill is an American singer, rapper and songwriter born in East Orange, New Jersey, in 1975. She was the lead vocalist and a rapper in Fugees on the album The Score, home to “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.” Her solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill produced “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor” and “Everything Is Everything.” In 1996, Lauryn Hill performed with Fugees on the inaugural Smokin’ Grooves tour. She returned to her solo catalogue on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary World Tour in 2018, followed by a performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in 2019. In 2023, the album’s 25th-anniversary tour paired her solo work with a reunion of Fugees.

Wyclef Jean is a Haitian-born American rapper, singer, guitarist and producer who makes hip-hop, reggae and R&B. Born in 1969 and raised in New Jersey, he became known as a member of the Fugees alongside Lauryn Hill and Pras, recording “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly” for the album The Score. His solo work includes The Carnival, “Gone till November” and the Mary J. Blige duet “911.” At Woodstock ’99, Wyclef Jean played a solo set that included a tribute to Jimi Hendrix and the burning of his guitar. Five years later, he reunited with the Fugees for the concert filmed in Dave Chappelle’s Block Party in Brooklyn.
