About Lee Fields & The Expressions
Lee Fields & The Expressions is the recording and touring group led by American soul singer Lee Fields, who was born in Wilson, North Carolina, and began releasing records in the late 1960s. Their catalogue pairs his forceful, gospel-shaped voice with soul and funk arrangements on albums including My World, Faithful Man, Emma Jean and Special Night; “Wish You Were Here” is among their best-known songs.
In 2014, Lee Fields & The Expressions performed a Tiny Desk Concert at the NPR Music offices in Washington, D.C. Fields fronted a full soul band built around guitars, rhythm section and horns, the format they also presented at Glastonbury Festival that year.
