Lise Davidsen in Zurich

Lise Davidsen is a Norwegian dramatic soprano, born in 1987, known especially for the operas of Wagner and Richard Strauss. She won the Operalia competition in 2015 and has sung roles including Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos and Leonore in Fidelio. The Bayreuth Festival presented her debut in 2019 as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, and later that year she made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Lisa in The Queen of Spades. She later returned there as Ariadne and as Chrysothemis in Elektra. Her staged opera engagements have also included the Royal Opera House in London and the Vienna State Opera. Her recital and concert work has reached Carnegie Hall in New York and the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
