Liz Phair in Portland

Liz Phair is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in 1967 and raised in the Chicago area. Her early Girly-Sound recordings led into the 1993 debut album Exile in Guyville, which established her candid, lo-fi approach to indie rock. Her catalog also includes Whip-Smart, “Supernova,” “Fuck and Run” and the pop-rock single “Why Can’t I?” In 2018, Liz Phair mounted the Girly-Sound to Guyville: The 25th Anniversary Tour, drawing its set from her early cassette recordings and debut album. Five years later, she performed that album in full on the Exile in Guyville 30th Anniversary Tour.

Frankie Cosmos is the New York City indie-pop project led by American songwriter Greta Kline, who was born in 1994. The project is known for brief, conversational songs, early home recordings and albums including Zentropy, Next Thing and Vessel. “Fool,” “On the Lips” and “Outside with the Cuties” are among its best-known songs. In 2018, Frankie Cosmos performed songs from Vessel as a full band for NPR’s Tiny Desk. Tours supporting that record and Close It Quietly took the group through clubs and small theatres in North America and Europe, while hometown headline dates included Bowery Ballroom.
