About Locomondo
Locomondo are a Greek band formed in Athens in 2003, led by singer and songwriter Markos Koumaris. They play reggae, ska and dub shaped by Greek lyrics and traditional instruments. Their best-known recordings include “Den Kanei Kryo stin Ellada,” “Magiko Hali” and a reggae version of Markos Vamvakaris’s “Frangosyriani,” while the album 12 Meres stin Jamaica was recorded in Jamaica.
Locomondo have built their live history around full-band concerts in Greece and appearances on the European festival circuit. Their sets draw on Greek-language originals, Jamaican rhythms and their reworking of “Frangosyriani”; festival appearances have included Summerjam in Germany and Sziget Festival in Budapest.
