Loudness is a Japanese heavy metal band formed in Osaka in 1981 by guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi. Singer Minoru Niihara and bassist Masayoshi Yamashita completed the original lineup. The band is known for the albums Disillusion, Thunder in the East and Lightning Strikes, while “Crazy Nights” became its signature song. In 1985, Loudness supported Mötley Crüe on the North American Theatre of Pain tour after the release of Thunder in the East. That run brought the band to major arenas and included a performance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
