Luke Haines is an English singer-songwriter and musician, born in London in 1967, whose work ranges across indie rock, pop and electronica. He led The Auteurs, formed in 1991, and wrote songs including “Showgirl” and “Lenny Valentino” for albums such as New Wave, Now I’m a Cowboy and After Murder Park. He also recorded as Baader Meinhof, co-founded Black Box Recorder and released a substantial catalogue under his own name.

The Auteurs toured Britain with Suede in 1993 before joining the travelling Lollapalooza festival in the United States that summer. Luke Haines later developed a solo concert repertoire for clubs and theatres, performing on guitar and drawing on his own records as well as songs by The Auteurs.
