Artist
Madeleine Peyroux is an American jazz and blues singer-songwriter, born in Athens, Georgia, in 1974. After beginning her career as a street singer in Paris, she made her solo debut with Dreamland. She is best known for the album Careless Love, including her interpretation of Leonard Cohen’s “Dance Me to the End of Love,” and for songs such as “Don’t Wait.” As a teenager in Paris, Madeleine Peyroux performed on the street and toured Europe with the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band before starting her solo recording career. After Careless Love, she toured internationally in theatres and jazz clubs, while the concert film Somethin’ Grand documented performances from the Bare Bones period. Her London appearances have included Royal Festival Hall and Ronnie Scott’s.
