Manuel García in Buenos Aires

Manuel García is a Chilean singer-songwriter born in Arica in 1970, known for folk-rooted songs that also draw on trova and rock. He first became widely known as the vocalist and principal songwriter of Mecánica Popular, then began a solo career with the album Pánico. His best-known songs include “La danza de las libélulas,” “Hablar de ti” and “El viejo comunista.” In 2012, he performed at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, bringing his solo repertoire to Chile’s major televised festival stage. After recording Abrazo de hermanos with Argentine musician Pedro Aznar, the pair presented the project in concerts in Chile and Argentina. Those performances drew on the album and the catalogues of Manuel García and Pedro Aznar.
