Martin Taylor is a Scottish jazz guitarist, born in Harlow in 1956 and raised in Scotland. He is known for fingerstyle playing that carries melody, harmony and bass simultaneously, his long partnership with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, and recordings including Artistry and Spirit of Django. Taylor joined Grappelli’s band in 1979 and spent the following decade touring internationally with the violinist. He later formed the concert ensemble Spirit of Django, while his duo partnership with Tommy Emmanuel produced the album and tour The Colonel & The Governor.
