Matt Wilson is an American jazz drummer, composer and bandleader, born in Knoxville, Illinois, in 1964. He is known for leading the Matt Wilson Quartet and Arts & Crafts, and for albums including Gathering Call and Honey and Salt: Music Inspired by the Poetry of Carl Sandburg. The Matt Wilson Quartet, formed in 1996, became his principal group for club and festival performances, followed by Arts & Crafts. His bands have played New York engagements at Jazz Standard and Dizzy’s Club. His Christmas Tree-O concerts present seasonal music in a jazz-trio setting, performed with reed player Jeff Lederer and bassist Paul Sikivie.
