About Matthew Sweet
Matthew Sweet is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1964. He plays power pop and alternative rock and is best known for the 1991 album Girlfriend, including its title track and “I've Been Waiting.” His catalogue also includes Altered Beast, 100% Fun and the song “Sick of Myself.”
The tour supporting Girlfriend took Sweet and his band through clubs and theatres in the early 1990s. In 2011, he marked the album’s twentieth anniversary by performing it in full on tour. His live work has also included concerts built around the Under the Covers recordings made with Susanna Hoffs.
