Artist
Melingo is an Argentine singer, clarinetist and composer born in Buenos Aires in 1957. He played in Los Abuelos de la Nada and Los Twist before developing a solo style of alternative tango marked by his gravelly voice, theatrical storytelling and elements of milonga and candombe. His key albums include Tangos bajos, Santa Milonga and Maldito Tango. In the 1980s, Melingo performed with Los Abuelos de la Nada and Los Twist, then formed Lions in Love during a period in Madrid. His later concerts center on songs from his tango catalogue, sung and played on clarinet alongside a compact ensemble. He has presented this repertoire in theatres and at festivals in France and Spain.
