Melissa Manchester in Cincinnati

Melissa Manchester is an American pop and soul singer-songwriter, born in the Bronx in 1951. Her best-known recordings include “Midnight Blue,” “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” “Through the Eyes of Love” and “You Should Hear How She Talks About You,” which earned her a Grammy Award. Her recording career began with the album Home to Myself in 1973. In the early 1970s, Melissa Manchester sang in New York clubs and worked as one of Bette Midler’s backing singers, the Harlettes, at the Continental Baths. She later gave her own concert at Carnegie Hall, and in 1980 she performed “Through the Eyes of Love” and “I’ll Never Say Goodbye” at the Academy Awards, singing two nominated songs during the same ceremony.
