Dragon Smoke is an American funk and soul quartet formed in New Orleans in 2003. The group brings together singer-guitarist Eric Lindell, keyboardist and singer Ivan Neville, bassist Robert Mercurio and drummer Stanton Moore, musicians also associated with Dumpstaphunk and Galactic. Dragon Smoke first played at the Dragon’s Den during the 2003 Jazz Fest season. That one-off session became a recurring festival-season concert, and the quartet later added short West Coast tours to its reunion schedule. A Dragon Smoke show features the four core members, with Neville and Lindell sharing vocals over Mercurio and Moore’s rhythm section. The quartet has repeatedly taken its California runs through San Francisco and Los Angeles. It also returns to Santa Cruz for club dates at Moe’s Alley.
