Mono in Donostia / San Sebastian

Mono is a Japanese instrumental rock band formed in Tokyo in 1999. Its music is built around layered guitars, orchestral textures and sharp shifts in volume, heard on albums including You Are There, Hymn to the Immortal Wind and For My Parents. In 2009, Mono marked its tenth anniversary at New York’s Society for Ethical Culture by performing with the Wordless Music Orchestra; the concert was documented on Holy Ground: NYC Live. The band returned to an orchestral format for its twentieth-anniversary concert at the Barbican in 2019, later released as Beyond the Past: Live in London with the Platinum Anniversary Orchestra.
