About Moon Duo
Moon Duo is an American psychedelic rock group formed in San Francisco in 2009 by guitarist Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips and keyboardist Sanae Yamada. Repetitive motorik rhythms, distorted guitar and synthesizers shape albums including Mazes, Circles, the two-part Occult Architecture and Stars Are the Light.
Recordings from Moon Duo’s 2012 and 2014 performances at Austin Psych Fest were later collected on Live at Levitation. The separate concert album Live in Ravenna presents the touring trio of Johnson, Yamada and drummer John Jeffrey.
