Mutual Benefit in New York

Mutual Benefit is an American indie-folk project created by songwriter Jordan Lee in 2009. Intimate vocals, lo-fi textures and string arrangements shape releases including Love’s Crushing Diamond, Skip a Sinking Stone and Thunder Follows the Light; “Advanced Falconry” and “Strong River” are among its best-known songs. In 2014, Mutual Benefit performed a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR, recasting songs from Love’s Crushing Diamond for a compact ensemble. The project’s concerts have often used a changing group of musicians, and Jordan Lee led that session on voice and guitar, supported by strings and percussion.
