The Barr Brothers are a Canadian folk-rock band formed in Montreal by brothers Brad and Andrew Barr and harpist Sarah Pagé. Their self-titled debut introduced “Beggar in the Morning,” while Sleeping Operator brought “Even the Darkness Has Arms” and “Love Ain’t Enough”; Queens of the Breakers followed with “You Would Have to Lose Your Mind.” The Barr Brothers performed at the Newport Folk Festival in 2015 during the touring cycle for Sleeping Operator. That period also included an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, which documented their core live arrangement: Brad Barr on guitar and vocals, Andrew Barr on drums and Sarah Pagé on harp.
SOAK is the recording name of Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson, who grew up in Derry and writes indie pop and folk. The debut album Before We Forgot How to Dream included “Sea Creatures” and “B a noBody” and was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize; later albums include Grim Town and If I Never Know You Like This Again. SOAK performed an NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 2015 during the cycle for Before We Forgot How to Dream. Later that year, they performed songs from the album at Glastonbury.
