About Nickel Creek
Nickel Creek is an American acoustic trio formed in Southern California in 1989 by mandolinist Chris Thile, fiddler Sara Watkins and guitarist Sean Watkins. Their progressive approach to bluegrass and folk became widely known through the albums Nickel Creek, This Side and Why Should the Fire Die?, as well as songs including “When You Come Back Down” and “The Lighthouse’s Tale.”
The Farewell (For Now) Tour closed the group’s first sustained period of activity in 2007. Nickel Creek reunited in 2014 to tour behind A Dotted Line, then returned to the road in 2023 following the release of Celebrants on the Celebrants Tour.
Nickel Creek returned to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival more than once and played the Newport Folk Festival in 2014.
